Economic geography

We hold that any theory of economic systems necessarily represents a de-contextualized form of “third-person” reality that abstracts and generalizes the “first-person” realm of experience of people taking part in daily economic life. This step of reduction is essential to re-embed singular instances of observation into forms of scientifically meaningful ordering systems and classifications.

We consider explanatory frameworks as viable when they place sufficient emphasis on the spatial characteristics of the economy and correlate them with context-specific social, political and cultural conditions.

Our research and teaching strongly focuses on the analysis of the dynamics of location systems in post-Fordism, productive-consumptive regionalisations, as well as analytical approaches in the field of model-theoretic approaches.
